TITLE:                    Maintenance Specialist

 

QUALIFICATIONS:      

  1. Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of the tasks and responsibilities assigned.
  2. Experience in the private or public sector as a custodian or maintenance employee desirable.
  3. High school diploma or G.E.D. and the ability to communicate in verbal or written form.
  4. Completion of a certified apprenticeship program and hold a license or certified in field relative to maintenance work, such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, motor mechanic, etc.  Priority given to HVAC related certification.
  5. Have a valid driver’s license and the ability and willingness to physically respond to “after hours” alarms and emergency maintenance calls.
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORT  TO: Maintenance Supervisor

JOB GOAL: To provide the school system with facilities and equipment that are safe and maintained in such a manner as to enhance the educational program for all students.

 

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Possess and maintain the skills needed to do repairs to the school plant and facilities in the area of carpentry, plumbing, painting, tile and roofing, and miscellaneous equipment repairs.
  2. Possess and maintain the skills needed to supervise and perform repairs to the school plant and facilities in the area of individual specialty and general maintenance.
  3. Assist in the maintenance and care of the school grounds.
  4. Strive constantly to promote the safety, health, and comfort of the students and employees.
  5. Perform any duty listed under Custodian responsibilities that are applicable to maintenance work. Assume the position of custodian as needed.
  6. Receive and deliver supplies from the county warehouse. Lifting and carrying items in excess of 50 pounds is often necessary.
  7. Maintain an inventory and recommend purchase of suitable supplies, tools and equipment.
  8. Complete all maintenance assignments relative to area(s) of special training such as mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or finish carpentry work.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:     Non-exempt position. Twelve month work year.

Salary to be established by the Board.
