TITLE:                    Secretary/Interpreter for Infants and Toddlers Program

 

QUALIFICATIONS:        

  1. High school Diploma with courses in keyboarding, computers operations and business education.  Associate degree or 60 credits preferred.
  2. Working knowledge of basic office procedures and the operation of common office equipment including personal computers and related software.
  3. Three years of experience as a secretary or administrative assistant preferred.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking families, in both oral and written form.  Oral and written fluency in Spanish are required.
  5. Certification in community interpreting with a minimum proficiency level of Advanced Low.
  6. Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOALS:      

 

To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the Infants and 

Toddlers office so that the office’s maximum positive impact on the families can be realized. 

                                   

To facilitate effective communication between the Infants and

Toddlers Program and Spanish-speaking families, with regard to all aspects of the IFSP process, including but not limited to:  identification of eligibility, provision of services, coordination of services, family events and meetings and translation of documents and other communications to afford equitable access to Infants and Toddlers and partner sponsored community services.

  

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs the usual office routines and practices associated with a busy yet productive and smoothly-run office.
  2. Maintains such student and/or office records as shall be required.
  3. Types and produces documents, reports and correspondence using computer software for word processing, desk-top publishing and spreadsheets.
  4. Assists in preparing administrative and/or instructional materials as requested.
  5. Assures that documents and information distributed to parents are translated appropriately, including video and voice communication originating from the Infants and Toddlers program.
  6. Interprets for Spanish-speaking families during all aspects of the IFSP process, including Family Support events.  Translates documents, such as IFSPs, letters and notices to parents as requested.
  7. Maintains the same level of ethical behavior and confidentiality about the school system and its operation as expected of all professional personnel.
  8. Performs other duties as required including but not limited to typing, photocopying and filing.
  9. Performs such other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:     Employee.  Eleven month work year, part time, no benefits.  Grant Funded
