TITLE: Motor Vehicle Mechanic - Transportation Dept. - $44, 713.77+
QUALIFICATION:
- High School Diploma is required. Post Secondary training in motor vehicle repair is preferred.
- Must be able to communicate orally and with writing in English.
- Must have five years experience in vehicle repair, knowledge of school bus systems preferred.
- Prefer experience in motor vehicle repair and general.
- Knowledge of mechanics and electronics.
- Ability to obtain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)required.
REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor
JOB GOAL: To perform preventive, general and emergency repairs to all
Transportation Department buses and vans. May work below
skills level from time to time. May work with the Plant
Operations Department from time to time.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Possess the knowledge and ability to perform preventive, general and emergency repairs to all Transportation Department owned vehicles. This includes but is not limited to buses, auto and vans.
- Responsible for keeping a clean, orderly and safe workplace.
- Responsible for ordering and maintaining an inventory of all necessary parts and supplies.
- Performs general and preventive maintenance on other equipment from time to time.
- May assign, supervise and train other mechanics as directed.
- Must be able to use all types of common hand and electrical tools including a variety of specialty tools used in vehicle repair.
- Observes safety regulations and procedures in the use of heavy duty
shop machines, overhead hoists, ladders, vehicle lifts and
chemical uses.
- Reads and deciphers instructional manuals, MSDS chemical sheets and able to report verbally and in writing to the Department Manager.
- Subject to assignments from the Department Manager, will perform snow
and ice removal, overtime and on-call coverage as required and other
duties as assigned.
10. Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Non-exempt position. Twelve month work
year. Salary to be established by the Board.
