TITLE: AEP (Access, Equity and Progress) Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, prefer Master’s Degree in the area of Special Education or similar field
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Special Education
JOB GOAL: Provides coordination and oversight of the Special Education Process to help ensure compliance, specialized instruction is provided so that students make progress and both parents and students are involved in the special education process.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build working knowledge of the MLIP Process (Talbot County’s Multi-Level Intervention Process)
- Provide guidance to school-based teams on referral process to MLIP and further supports
- Build working knowledge of academic and behavior interventions
- Conduct informal observations of interventions and specialized instruction being delivered and provide informal feedback and/or professional development based on the informal observations
- Provide instruction to certain identified students on self-advocacy and self-determination skills, so that they can develop the skills necessary to lead all or parts of their own IEP meeting
- Conduct IEP record reviews to determine county-wide areas of need
- Provide professional development to special education staff, in collaboration with other Special Education CORE Team members, related to areas of need based on the IEP record reviews
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Non-exempt. Eleven month work year. Salary to be established by the Board.
