TITLE:       Reading Teacher 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A valid teacher’s certificate with a Reading Teacher Endorsement 
2. Five (5) years of successful teaching at the elementary level.
3. Knowledge of current research and best practices in reading instruction.
4. Such alternatives to the above specifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB GOAL: To provide reading instruction for students to supplement classroom
instruction and to provide support to teachers in application of 

effective reading strategies.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide small group and individual reading intervention to identified students.
2. Collaborate with other reading teachers and literacy leaders to analyze district and school-level data.
3. Work collaboratively with teachers to determine reading needs of students based on data analysis and informal observation.
4. Attend professional development to strengthen knowledge, skills, and strategies 
5. relative to reading instruction and current best practices.
6. Support the planning and implementation of needs-based professional learning on the science of reading.
7. Perform other duties and responsibilities related to reading literacy as assigned by supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month position.  Salary commensurate with certification and experience according to the TCPS salary scale for teachers.
